“How do you know you don’t like it if you haven’t tasted it? “~ Everybody’s Mother
You didn’t know it at the time, but Mom was talking about a whole lot more than brussels sprouts! After all, how can we experience all that life has to offer if we’re not even willing to “taste” it?
Opening our minds to trying something new, or even to a new way of thinking is often frightening because by definition it’s unfamiliar. We may fear being outside of our comfort zone, or what others …may think of us. We tend to fear an unknown outcome more than we do a known bad one!
But when we close our minds, we limit the possibilities and opportunities that do occur as a result of trying something new. And honestly, most of the things we fear don’t actually come to pass.
Trying new things often requires courage. Trying something new opens up the possibility for your to enjoy something new. Trying something new keeps you from becoming bored. Trying something new forces you to grow.
Trying new things isn’t about just enjoying a new activity, it’s also about challenging your beliefs. And when you challenge your beliefs, you open yourself up open to new ideas that very well may be better than the current ones…thanks Mom! #perspectiveshift
